Guest Blogging & Giveaway
I’m guest blogging on Deanna Raybourn’s website today. Swing by to find out what else is going on in December, besides the holidays.
I’m also giving away a copy of one of my books. You can choose either AUSTENTATIOUS or AUSTENSIBLY ORDINARY, either paperback or audiobook. How’s that for choices?
To enter, simply leave a comment telling me your favorite December tradition, and I’ll pick a winner on Friday.
Good luck!

I didn’t know about ninja day. Otherwise, that would have been my favorite.
My favorite tradition is seeing the Nutcracker.

I’ve only seen it once, a long time ago. Enjoy both the Nutcracker *and* International Ninja Day this year, Stacy!

I can’t believe there’s a festival of unmentionable thoughts. Who knew? LOL My favorite December tradition is watching A Muppet Christmas Carol and drinking hot cocoa.

Oooh, good one, Shelly! Sounds excellent!

Fave December tradition, is mince pie & mulled wine night for all our friends. I make everything from scratch. I put a table out with homemade gingerbread houses, a few twinkle lights and lots of warm mince pies. My boyfriend makes the mulled wine, which is divine! I’m very sad that his job will keep us apart this year for Christmas, but we are going to continue our tradition together on skype

That sounds lovely, Toni! I hope this year’s Skype session will be almost as memorable as the real thing!

I’m always looking for new traditions to add – Hot Cocoa Day sounds right up my alley!
My favorite December tradition is a Christmas movie marathon with my family in front of the fire – we watch all the classics – Home Alone, Home Alone 2, A Christmas Story and the Grinch!

All good choices, Ashley! 😉

My favorite custom in December is being in the kitchen with my family cooking and baking for our family gathering on Christmas Day.
I love fruitcake and while you have National Fruitcake Day on your birthday, mine falls on the same day as Beer Can Appreciation Day. The first bear can was sold on January 24, 1935. I’m a bit younger than that, but I’ll take cake over beer any day!

Beer Can Appreciation Day!! Whoo-hoo–lucky you! 😉
Your favorite holiday tradition sounds perfect!

Every year, my younger daughter and I watch “Love Actually” – my holiday season doesn’t officially start until we have share this ritual together.

I’m definitely watching that again this year, Brigitte. The Holiday is usually my go-to holiday movie. Or Serendipity.

It had to be Christmas eve midnight mass for me followed by a feast in my church as my family doesn’t really have a grand celebration. The next day my parents and I will dine out for Christmas day lunch and I will order roast turkey. After that it’s time to switch on the TV and watch any movies that is offered but if I don’t like it, I can always turn to view my favourite selection of Christmas-themed movies like Home Alone and Home Alone 2.

You’ve definitely got it all figured out! Sounds lovely!

Our favorite holiday tradition actually happens during the Thanksgiving time. Our daughter and her family plus a sister come over for a turkey dinner and we put up the ornaments on the tree. Have saved dated ornaments for forty plus years but do not have to prop up the branches yet, just minor groaning from the weight. lol
It is nice to have all together and the chatting is nonstop! Our daughter always comments on the ornament dates – something about them being antiques… Happy Holidays to everyone. Dave in Oklahoma

I hope you and your family enjoy your time together decorating the tree this year, Dave! And I hope your tree is sturdy!

My favorite tradition is putting up the Christmas lights. I swear it has tested our marriage to the extreme untangling, checking lights and hanging them, but we always have a fun memory of it afterward when we sip cocoa by the fire.
Enjoyed your post, Alyssa!

A marriage that can withstand the holiday decoration craziness is SOLID, Sophia! Have fun!

Don’t laugh. Holiday pie from McDonalds with the kids, then we drive over to the insane Christmas house that sets the radio with timed, theme music.
12/06/2013 at 10:08 pm
Actually, Holly, that sounds right up my alley! Except that I can’t have those holiday pies any more now that I’m gluten free…
Enjoy one for me!
