A Hollywood Legend
Each time he’s mentioned, I remember how very much I’ve crushed on Cary Grant for a very long time. Beyond the obvious, there is just something indefinable about his appeal. Witty, charming, dashing, sentimental…he’s all that and a bag of chips. And while he will be forever remembered, I have to wonder, who will succeed him. What actor(s) out there today even stand a chance? Because we’re all waiting, hoping, wishing that someone will step into those very suave shoes…

In my high school, there were two cute teenage girls that were devastated when Cary Grant died. I remember thinking he had that special something I wish we could bottle up and pass around to the rest of us average looking/acting blokes.
My favorite film of his is Hitchcock's NORTH BY NORTHWEST.

Oh dear, I am not sure anyone can fill those shoes.

I'd say George Clooney is decidedly our generation's Cary Grant. He's just got class and charisma.

Don't think anyone can fill his shoes. Part of his appeal was a gentlemanly manor that doesn't exist from anyone i have seen in films. Just watched To Catch A Thief on Friday night and dd,10, said – you know mum I can see why you liked him. he's hot but not to sure about high he wears his trousers.

I love that one too, David. And I'm sure you're better than average.
Stacy, George Clooney never even occurred to me. I guess I don't consider him a contemporary being 10 years older than me. But he's a good choice.

I think it's Clooney, though Mr. Goode isn't a bad option either. Ah, the gentlemen. I miss them. I also miss the man's men like Charles Bronson–so unapologetically manly and macho. We have few of their ilk either anymore. Or James Stewart.

There can be no replacement. Cary Grant and James Stewart were my childhood crushes and my prized object when I was 12 was a signed Jimmy Stewart photo that I was sent in response to a fan letter I sent him. Aahh, thanks for reminding me of them, makes me want to put in 'The Philidelphia Story'…

Like Stacy, George Clooney has always reminded me of Cary Grant (and not the other way around). But I don't think he's quite there.
For me, the classic actors that I've crushed on for a while now are Marlon Brando and Humphrey Bogart.
