Another Year Older (er….Wiser)
Yesterday was my birthday, and I enjoyed a positively lovely day of sleeping in, Mexican food, museum browsing, and decadent, four-layer chocolate cake. I didn’t even need to make dinner as we’re still surfing the wave of leftovers from Christmas Eve and Christmas Day dinners. I received some awesome gifts, as well, including the ‘Boy Mom’ shirt I mentioned in a previous blog. I was gushing to my mom about how my boys bought it for me when my older son says, ‘We didn’t really buy it–Dad just made us write our names on the box.’ Nice. This was the same son who came in to lie on top of me and give me a full body hug, complete with Happy Birthday wishes in the morning, so I suppose I’m good.
I didn’t get any books for Christmas (except a couple I’d bought myself, only to have them nabbed by my husband for a couple easy gifts). So, I’m eagerly browsing Amazon, updating my Wish List, wondering which books should be put on my TBO (O=owned) list for 2009. Thoughts? Suggestions?

Happy birthday a day late.
Books for 2009? There’s Eileen Cook’s What Would Emma Do? I read that the other day pretty much in one sitting. If you liked Predictable, you’ll like WWED.
There’s The Fidelity Files by Jessica Brody. I really liked that one.
A couple I’m looking forward to later in the year, Amanda Ashby’s Zombie Queen of Newbury High and Maria Geraci’s Bunco Babes.
Those are what come off the top of my head.

Don’t you just love the honesty of kids? I can so hear that comment coming from one of mine! Happy B-Day again!

Happy Belated Birthday! Sounds like the day was fabulous! Oh boys… 😉
There’s a book by Charles Finch called A Beautiful Blue Death that I’ve been eyeing…a mystery set in the 1800s. Lauren Willig has a book coming out in January and Deanna Raybourn has one coming out in March…both definite keepers!

Alyssa!
Well, Happy belated B-day!
Sounds like you had a wonderful time and yes, you can be happy the boys were even there to celebrate!
Most kids are out of there – gone!
Children are a handful but don’t you just love ’em…that right there will be a memory to remember and tell when your son’s are sitting there one day with their own kids. It’ll bring old smiles and laughter for sure.
So, what are you working on right now, book wise?
My WIP is a western.
Happy New Year

Happy Birthday (late), sounds like you had a wonderful day.
I haven’t begun to think of 09 books yet, I’m finishing the edits on mine (cutting 21K words from a book is hard)and sending it back to the request. Fingers crossed.

Happy Belated Birthday! I have so many books in my tbr pile, that I can’t even think of the 2009 releases…yet. I do know I’m buying Veil of Midnight tomorrow. Not sure what else comes out tomorrow.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! Glad you had such a brilliant day. As for books, hmmm – I’m still trying to get through my 2008 tbr list!

LOL! Maybe next time you should just give them access to your Amazon wish list and be done with it. 😉
Happy (belated) birthday!
