Thursday Thirteen

Thirteen Colors And Why I Love Them

1. Watermelon Red – a simply scrumptious color, warm and cool at the same time
2. Evergreen – Christmas trees, piney woods, plaid blankets and parkas
3. Spring Green – warmth, new life, a blinding yellow-green that makes me stare
4. Periwinkle – reminds me of twilight, my favorite time of the day
5. Orange – the color of pumpkins and sunsets
6. Turquoise – the ocean in the sunlight in an exotic locale (i.e. not Galveston)
7. Teal blue/green – the sexy cousin of turquoise…deeper, darker, more mysterious
8. Cerulean blue – the color of the sky…on a good day
9. Tomato Red – a kitchen color: pizza, pasta, nectarines
10. Lemon Yellow – just yummy, makes me think of lemon merengue pie and lemon ice
11. Chocolate Brown – obviously, the color of chocolate; my staple, instead of black
12. Rosy Pink – the inside of seashells, the color of ‘apple cheeks’, a happy color
13. Chartreuse – an otherworldly color, found under the ocean or deep in the forest

…and once again, Blogger is not letting me post images…if I knew how to do colored type, I’d do that, but alas…

Congrats on being a finalist in Affaire de Couer!!! Yay!!

And what a great list of colors. My husband is one of those people who thinks green is green is green is green.

I have such a hard time trying to explain to him that olive green isn’t yellow or brown. LOL.

  2. Those are some great descriptions of colors!

Congrats on finaling in Affaire de Couer!

  3. This is a great list. I’m feeling the urge to steal this topic. Didn’t I say that last week? I can’t remember.

I was such a Crayola kid when growing up, and I still find myself describing colors to people my age by their name in the Crayola box. Oh, it’s a “midnight blue” sweater. Or, it’s a “seafoam” couch. … And now I want to buy a new box of crayons.

  4. I worked in a boutique one summer where we weren’t allowed to call any of the colors by their real name. A sweater could be “seafoam” or “mint julip” or “forest moss” but it could never, ever be light green. You can’t charge $175 for a light green sweater.

Thanks Colleen and Racy for the congrats!

Caryle, I LOVE a fresh box of crayons too!

    Too funny, Trish!

  6. I tried to do the Thursday 13 but failed. How do you get the picture of the cow at the beginning and include pics. I’m clearly more technically challenged than I thought.

  7. Teal is my favorite color and I recently discovered that a deep plum type color looks good on me.

Thanks for visiting me and “Redskin Chili” is a basic chili receipe however, in our house I would put the chili in the crockpot on game days. We are Washington Redskin fans and would have chili and either corn bread or biscuits for dinner during the game. It works great when its a 4:15 game and you eat at half time. Besides, you don’t have to worry about dinner because it ready when you are. My kids refer to my chili as “redskin chili” and it has just stuck over the years. Oh, you put redskin kidney beans in it.

And apple butter is great with pancakes. What a yummy taste, warm apple butter over pancakes.

  8. Trish, that’s hilarious!

My favorite color is green, in all its incarnations.
